More than 80 years in Barcelona offering the best traditional gastronomy in a familiar and fun atmosphere.
Opened in 1942 by Joan Balsells i Torres and Balbina Garrido, Bodega Joan began its commercial activities with the bulk sale of Catalan wines. During the first decade of its history it was transformed into a restaurant, offering a magnificent menu of traditional specialties with seasonal dishes. Its variety of traditional Catalan recipes, served with generosity and its iconic dishes, synonymous with quality and tradition, are part of the culinary heritage of the city of Barcelona and Eixample.
Nothing better than our customers speaking for us.
"Delicious tapas - some of the best calamari/fried octopus rings on the planet! So fresh, with a wonderful aioli. We enjoyed the reasonable wine list, tasty paella, crispy potatoes bravas and amazing prawns."
"We were 6 people. They explained the menu, recommended Catalan dishes and everything was delicious. I will surely come back and recommend it. Try the arroz caldoso with lobster, especially if it's cold... The paella was very good."
"Enjoyed the night dining with my wife at Bodega Joan. Great good, great time!"
It was 1999 when the illusions of a group of friends, identified with the same interests, became what today is the Penya Barcelonista. Among the activities carried out by our peña we can list trips following our beloved F.C. Barcelona, different cultural activities and recreational trips for our members.
Each match of Barcelona F.C. becomes a party in the Bodega Joan.
